Staying fit and in shape is not easy. It takes blood, sweat, and tears.
That’s a lot.
It’s not always easy, but it is always worth it. There are days you might not feel like getting up early for a workout. Or days when sticking to your diet doesn’t feel like it even matters. But you put forth the effort anyway and you deserve to feel great for it.

They roll your eyes when you stick to your diet even over the holidays. They moan and groan when you get in a quick workout even on vacation. And they say things like:
It feels awful. But don’t let their negative comments derail your fitness goals. Here are a few tips for dealing with those family members - and doing it without creating an even bigger problem between you.
Focus on the positive changes you are making in your life. When friends or family start hating on your fitness routine or your diet, return to positivity. Remind yourself of how you’ve been able to lose weight and build lean muscle.
Don’t give in to negativity.
If you can, find opportunities to make positive comments about your fitness routine. If someone says, “I don’t know how you find time for all that,” come back with a positive reply about how staying fit helps you stay productive and energetic throughout the day.
Family members who hate on your fitness goals are probably just dumping their own dissatisfaction with their health on you. Instead of answering back fast and mean, take time to listen.
You may be able to identify ways to help your loved ones make healthy changes. Don’t come on strong or act like you have all the answers. Just stay positive, listen, and look for moments to be positive.
Sometimes, your love of fitness and health can move you to be a little pushy. Your out of shape family members don’t want to be invited along to the gym every time you go.
They don’t want a constant reminder that you make healthier meal choices than they do. So stay true to your fitness goals. But don’t push them on others. It will just drive a wedge between you.
When you are accused of being “crazy” or “too dedicated,” it’s only natural to want to snap back. But don’t accuse your loved ones of being unhealthy or lazy. Avoid comments like:
This is not the way to help your family understand you. It’s just going to lead to problems. Instead of accusing family members of laziness or sloth, keep the conversation positive.

Just being body positive and healthy can have a major effect. Research shows that families with physically fit members tend to be fitter than those without. Even if they don’t realize it, you are doing your family a favor with each workout.
